Welcome to Learning Speech Acts!
This course is design to help English learners develop awareness with English speech acts. Speech acts includes making apologies, refusals, requests, and compliments.
The first lesson is learning how to identify several requests that people might have in different situations. Please view my Pragmatics Lesson Plan - Making Requests.
At the moment this course site is designed for Seyla's pragmatic lesson plan for his Pragmatics class at Teacher's College in Japan. However, he hopes to continue to add more lessons with video for students, so please be patient.
